Frequently Asked Questions

Can siblings attend the party?

Yes! Spectators can't walk an alpaca but they can take part in hand feeding the alpacas. Spectator tickets are £5 per person.

Can parents of party children attend the party?

Parents are very welcome. There will be no charge for parents who are dropping off, picking up or waiting at the picnic tables or in the car park. If a parent wants to take part alongside their child - they will need to purchase a £5 spectator ticket.

Can we buy teas and coffee or food on site?

Unfortunately, no. We do not have electric at The Darling Woods so we suggest you bring along a flask if you want a hot beverage! There is access to a tap with drinking water.

Do you have hand washing facilities?

Yes we do! We have lovely toilets with running water, antibacterial handwash and hand towels. Up by the alpaca paddocks - we also have hand sanitising stations. You will also be provided with additional hand sanitising wipes on your picnic tables.

How long can we stay for?

The maximum time you can stay for your party is 2 and a half hours. We find that most parties last between 1 and a half and 2 hours though.

Where can we park?

Please park in the car park by reception.

Are you pushchair or wheelchair friendly?

We're working on this! We would suggest babies are carried in a sling as our woodland walk is not pushchair or wheelchair friendly. If you are a wheelchair user - please let us know so that we can tailor the experience to your needs.

Are alpacas hypoallergenic?

Since alpaca wool lacks lanolin, a waxy substance that is a common allergen for some individuals, it is considered to be hypoallergenic for most people. However, it is important to note that some people may still experience an allergic reaction to certain proteins in the fibre.

What should I wear?

Sometimes, the fields and the woodland walk can be wet and muddy. You might be walking over uneven ground. We would suggest you wear walking boots or wellies for this experience. Dress for the weather - a raincoat may be needed. Please note - our alpacas are scared of umbrellas! Please cover bare legs, particularly ankles - sometimes we come across nettles on our walk. In the height of summer - you may want to wear some sun cream and insect repellent.

Do you have a baby changing area?

We're sorry - we do not currently have a baby changing area.

Do you have a gift shop?

There is a small gift shop at reception where we sell alpaca products (depending on season) and alpaca merchandise.

Do you accept cash or card?

Yes, we accept cash or card.

Is the picnic area under a shelter?

Yes - we provide you with a large gazebo & picnic tables with bunting for your party.

Can I bring party balloons?

We're afraid not. Our alpacas are scared of them!

Are you dog friendly?

We love dogs, but our alpacas don't! No dogs are allowed on site - including guide dogs. We realise this is unusual - however, our alpacas are so scared of dogs that they would simply refuse to walk.
